Refugee Strike Bochum ist im März 2016 als Reaktion auf die prekären Bedingungen für Zugewanderte entstanden. Die Initiative gewinnt an lokaler Bedeutung, ist breit vernetzt und politisch aktiv - und bleibt dennoch extrem prekär. Das Engagement bedeutet unzählige Stunden ehrenamtlicher Arbeit. Die Ressourcen sind begrenzt und die Aufgaben in Bochum vielfältig und hochfrequent.

Umso wichtiger erscheint die Anbahnung größerer strukturbildender Maßnahmen. Ein erster Schritt hierfür könnte die regionale und überregionale Vernetzung aktiver Initiativen sein, die im Arbeitsalltag kaum umzusetzen ist. Interkultur Ruhr als nomadische Initiative des RVR ist von kitev in Oberhausen eingeladen worden, den Raum der Konferenz “MIT!”zugestalten. Wir entscheiden uns, ihn weiterzugeben an viele Andere - und uns selbst. Voneinander lernen. Weiterkommen miteinander.

Mit der Tagung und den Gesprächen dort mit den verschiedensten Akteuren wollen wir auch eine Grundlage legen für ein neues (Selbst-)Bild des Ruhrgebiets. Es gibt hier viel zu tun - lasst es uns zusammen machen und damit modellbildend für eine co-creative Stadtentwicklung in Deutschland und Europa wirken!

Refugee Strike Bochum arose due to the precarious conditions, in which they had to find themselves, in March 2016. The initiative has been succesfully fighting for recognition, is well connected and involved in political discussions – and is staying extremely precarious. The commitment needs tremendous hours of voluntary work, ressources are limited and the actions are urgent and have a very high frequency. Can bigger structural ideas be projected?

A first step could be a regional network and more connections to initiatives beyond the region, which cannot be handled in daily life. Interkultur Ruhr as a nomadic project of RVR has been invited to shape the space of the conference „MIT!“. Conscious of the complex power relations and hierarchies which are lying underneath, we still decide to hand it over to many others to start a co-creation. To learn from each other. To advance together.

Mit welchen Partnern in Bildung, Politik, Kunst, Kultur, Medien bieten sich Kooperationen an, um dem Thema Flucht und Migration mehr Gewicht und Gehör zu verleihen – für praktische und politische Lösungen, und nicht zuletzt: der Möglichkeit, ein zufriedenes Leben als Mitbürger zu führen? Ist ein künstlerischer „Beistand“ für die Arbeit von Geflüchteteninitiativen sinnvoll? Gastgeber: Interkultur Ruhr

Viele Zugänge bleiben versperrt durch Angst- und Fremdheitsphantasien in der deutschen Bevölkerung. Wie kann man in den Diskurs intervenieren? Was spielen alternative Medien und Bildungsangebote für eine Rolle? Wie können Alltagspraktiken aussehen, die helfen, eine diverse und offene Bürgerschaft zu kreieren?

What does self organization mean among refugees? Is change possible without fighting? Is self-exploitation the only chance of political commitment for refugee organizantions and helpers? Host: Refugee Strike Bochum

2. Complicity
Which partners in education, politics, arts, culture and media offer good opportunities to put more stress on necessary changes in regard to migration and people fleeing from conflicts and finally opening up possibilities to live a good life as a citizen. Does „assistance“ for the work of refugee initiatives make sense? Host: Interkultur Ruhr

3. Images
Many Connections are blocked by phantasies of fears and feeling foreign among each other in the German society. Can alternative media and education systems play an important role?

Phil Wood describes himself as an urban therapist and he works with cities around the world to find creative responses to the process of change. He began his first project to transform a derelict space in 1981 whilst he was unemployed in his home town of Huddersfield, which was experiencing extreme deindustrialisation and rampant Thatcherism. He eventually got a job with the municipality as a community development worker. Phil has been a freelance researcher, writer and activist since 2000, closely associated with Comedia and working in over 40 countries. Prior to that he was the Director of the Creative Town Initiative, an exemplary Urban Pilot Project of the European Union, concerned with the revival of post-industrial communities.

He is the principal advisor to the Council of Europe on its Intercultural Cities programme and the architect of its methodology (www.coe.int/interculturalcities). His book, The Intercultural City: Planning for Diversity Advantage (co-authored with Charles Landry) was published in 2008 by Earthscan. He is also a trainer on the TANDEM: Community & Participation programme for cultural managers, for the organisation MitOst. Phil holds a MA with distinction in European Cultural Planning.

Wir möchten die Diskussion durch die Teilnahme von ExpertenInnen aus der nachhaltigen Städteplanung und Präsentationen anderer Beispiele unser europäischen NIFOB PartnerInnen vertiefen.
